Start your weight loss journey with Wegovy
If you're thinking about Wegovy weight loss injections, here's exactly what you can expect from the process:
One Wegovy injection per week
Forget the fuss of taking medication every day.
Wegovy injections are a once-a-week treatment that can be injected into your upper arm, thigh or tummy.
Progressive doses to suit your goals
Injections come in different doses to adapt to your weight loss journey.
You'll start with a 0.25mg dose and - if approved by a pharmacist - slowly progress through stronger doses, up to 7.2mg.
Regular check-ins
Our pharmacists will be in touch every month to discuss your progress and share guidance.
If you need help in between check-ins, you can always reach out to them.
To start your Wegovy weight-loss treatment and help our pharmacists understand your needs, you'll need to have a video consultation with a member of our team. Once approved, our team will stay in regular contact to approve your future use of our weight loss medicines.
Dedicated support from an expert team
Wegovy curbs cravings and supports sustainable weight loss. Combined with the support of our pharmacists, you can start making changes to your lifestyle and mindset.
As soon as our pharmacists have checked Wegovy is right for you, we'll send you your first dose in discreet packaging.
One of our pharmacists will contact you every 4 weeks to make sure you're ready for a stronger dose of the medicine.
You'll start with the 0.25mg injection in month 1 and could work your way up to the 2.4mg dose in month 5. Each dose comes in a different coloured injection pen.
With our flexible home delivery and Click and Collect services, you can get your next dose wherever you are.
How do you use Wegovy weight-loss injections?
It should take no more than 10 seconds to take your Wegovy injection. The easy, compact injector pen can be used at home, or even taken with you on the go.
Decide where to inject
You can inject your pen into your tummy, upper arm or thigh. Try to vary the location (even just 5cm apart) each week to avoid soreness or bruising.
Prepare your pen
For the regular FlexTouch® pen (used for 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg), tear off the paper tab and push the needle straight onto the pen. Turn until it's on tight. Remove the outer needle cap and keep it for later, but you can dispose of the inner cap. If it's your first use of the pen, check the dose (your booklet will explain how to do this), and then set the dose using the selector. For the maintenance dose (7.2mg), these pens are ready-to-use and designed for one-time use only - just remove the cap and you're good to go!
Inject your dose
Press and hold the pen against the skin, holding the dose button until the counter shows -0-. For the 7.2mg single-use pen, ensure you press firmly against the skin and don't release until the full dose has been administered. If you pull away too soon, the pen will lock and you won't be able to re-use the pen for a second try.

Wegovy works by reducing a patient's appetite and helping to regulate food intake. The active ingredient, semaglutide, mimics the hormone responsible for controlling appetite, making you feel less hungry and fuller for longer when you do eat.
Wegovy weight-loss injections also help slow down your digestive system, making you feel more satisfied between meals and less likely to snack. This in turn can help you develop a structured eating routine and maintain long-term healthy eating habits in the future, even after your medicated weight-loss treatment has finished.
To be prescribed Wegovy injections, you must first meet a number of important criteria. This will all be explained to you by your pharmacist in your initial consultation.
To be eligible to take Wegovy, you must be:
- Over 18 years old
- Under the age of 75
- You must have a BMI of 30 or higher
- You must have a BMI of 27 or higher if you also have a pre-existing medical condition that is affected by your weight, such as high blood pressure or heart disease
You may be ineligible to take Wegovy if you are:
- Pregnant, or planning on becoming pregnant
- Breastfeeding
- Allergic to any of the ingredients found in Wegovy
In some cases, our clinicians may conclude that weight-loss medications such as Wegovy injections are not a suitable option for you. In this instance, we will work with you to establish an alternative weight-loss treatment plan.
As with any medication, some users may experience side effects when taking Wegovy. This can also happen when your dose is increased.
Some of the most common side effects from Wegovy weight-loss injections are:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Headache
- Feeling weak or more tired than usual
- Stomach aches
- Constipation
- Feeling bloated
- Excess gas
- Feeling light-headed or dizzy
Most of these side effects should be mild and easy to manage but, if you have any concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch with one of our team or your GP.
In some rare cases, patients may experience more serious side effects when taking Wegovy weight-loss injections, including:
- Severe stomach pain
- Inflammation of the pancrea
- Gallbladder problems, such as gallstones
- Kidney problems or kidney failure
- Serious allergic reactions
- Increased risk of low blood sugar
- Increased heart rate
- Issues with vision
If you are concerned you may be experiencing any of the above serious side effects, speak to a doctor straight away, or call 111 or 999 in the case of emergencies.
To ensure you get the most effective results possible, it's important that you try to take your Wegovy on the same day each week. However, we know that sometimes life can get in the way and you may accidentally forget to administer your Wegovy weight-loss injection on time.
If this happens, there are a few simple instructions you should follow:
- If your next weekly dose is due within two days, do not take the dose you have missed. Instead, just wait until your next scheduled dose and take it as normal.
- If your next scheduled dose is more than two days away, you should inject your missed dose of Wegovy as soon as possible. Then continue with your weekly Wegovy injections as normal.
- Should you miss more than two doses of Wegovy in two weeks, you should reach out to one of our pharmacists for further information about the safest way to continue your treatment plan.
Weight-loss medications like Wegovy work best when they are paired with a healthy diet and active lifestyle. With this in mind, below are some of the foods you should try to avoid while on your medicated weight-loss treatment plan if you want to see the best results possible:
- Fried foods
- Foods high in saturated fats
- Processed meats
- Food with high sugar content
- Alcohol (this can sometimes make the side effects of the medication worse)
Our experts will be on hand to provide you with advice and support to help you make the right food choices on your weight-loss journey.
In addition to Wegovy injections, we also offer two other types of weight-loss medications as part of our weight-management services.
Mounjaro, a self-injectable medication, is designed for weekly use, while orlistat is available in capsule form and is taken three times daily.
If our clinicians determine that weight-loss medication is not suitable for you, or if you prefer alternative approaches, our pharmacists are here to provide expert guidance. From tailored exercise plans to practical healthy eating tips, we are dedicated to helping you achieve your weight-loss goals.

Different injection pens work in different ways, so it's important to read your information booklet to deliver the medication safely and effectively. For Wegovy, the starter and step-up doses come in the form of a FlexTouch® pen, each containing 4 doses. You'll need to apply the needle to this pen and switch it out between uses. For the 7.2mg maintenance dose pen, these are designed for single-use, containing just one dose - the needle is already in place and ready to use on these. Just a heads up: these single-use pens are designed especially for that, so if you only partially administer the dose before pulling away, the pen will lock and you won't be able to re-use it to try and deliver the remainder of the dose.
