What is earache

Earache is pain in your ear. It can have many different causes, but it’s rarely serious.

Some of the symptoms of earache are:

  • Pain in the ear
  • Hearing loss
  • A high temperature.

Where can I get treatment for my ear ache

Pharmacy First is a quick and easy way of getting help for earache. There’s no need to book an appointment, you can head into your local pharmacy and the team will arrange an assessment for you.
Pharmacy First can help you skip the wait at your GP and get prescriptions for your symptoms if you need them.

Who can access Pharmacy First treatments for earache?

You need to be between the ages of 1 and 17 to access Pharmacy First treatment for earache at your local pharmacy. If you aren’t eligible for the service, you can ask your pharmacy team about our earwax removal service.
Our earwax removal service costs £60 and involves 2 appointments (£10 for an ear check and £50 for earwax removal) . During the first appointment, one of our pharmacists will check your ears to see if you have an earwax build-up. If you do, they will arrange a follow up appointment with you so that it can be removed. You only need to pay for the second appointment if you have excess earwax that is causing you pain or irritation.
