Well Pharmaceuticals Allergy Syrup Relief is a strawberry flavoured oral solution containing Chlorphenamine Maleate, an antihistamine that provides fast, effective relief from hay fever, allergies and other itchy skin rashes in adults and children from 1 year, including:

  • Heat rash and prickly heat.
  • Hives and nettle rash.
  • Insect bites or stings.
  • Itchy rash of chickenpox.
  • Skin allergies and dermatitis.
  • Dust mite, mould spores and pet allergies.
  • Allergic reactions to food, food additives and medicines.

How to Use

  • Children aged 1-2 years: 2.5ml (1mg) twice daily. The minimum interval between the doses should be 4 hours. Maximum daily dose: 5ml (2mg) in any 24 hours.
  • Children aged 2- 6years: 2.5ml (1mg) every 4 to 6 hours. Maximum daily dose: 15ml (6mg) in any 24 hours.
  • Children aged 6-12 years: 5ml (2mg) every 4 to 6 hours. Maximum daily dose: 30ml (12mg) in any 24 hours.
  • Adults and children 12 years and over: 10ml (4mg) every 4 to 6 hours. Maximum daily dose: 60ml (24mg) in any 24 hours.
  • Elderly: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you take this medicine as you may be more likely to get side effects including confusion and you may need to take a lower dose.

Ingredients

  • Active Ingredient (per 5ml): Chlorphenamine maleate 2mg.
  • Other Ingredients: Purified water, glycerol (E422), maltitol liquid (E965), saccharin sodium (E954), citric acid monohydrate, sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E219), sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217) and strawberry flavour (containing propylene glycol (E1520), flavouring substances and ascorbic acid). 

Warnings

  • Avoid drinking alcohol with this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision or impair movement. If this happens do not drive or use tools or machinery.
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advise before taking this medicine.
  • This medicine contains Maltitol liquid (E965). If you have been told by your doctor that you or your child have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product. Maltitol may have a mild laxative effect. Each 5ml does provides 1.37g maltitol (3.1 kcal).
  • Sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E219) and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217) may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
  • This medicine contains 5ml of propylene glycol per 5ml which is equivalent to 1mg/ml.
  • This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per 5ml, that is to say essentially 'sodium free'.

Do not take Well Pharmaceuticals Allergy Syrup Relief if you or your child:

  • Are allergic to chlorphenamine, other antihistamines or to any of the ingredients.
  • Has taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) prescribed for depression in the last 14 days.
  • Are taking other medicines containing antihistamines, including products for the relief of colds and coughs.

Talk to you doctor or pharmacist before taking Well Pharmaceuticals Allergy Syrup Relief if:

  • You or your child suffer from high blood pressure, glaucoma, epilepsy, liver disease, kidney disease, hear disease, bronchitis, asthma, bronchiectasis or chronic lung disorders (difficulty in breathing and cough that won't go away).
  • You have an enlarged prostate.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. Chlorphenamine can interfere with the action of some other drugs and some drugs can have an effect on chlorphenamine. The drugs which can cause some problems when taken together with chlorphenamine are: 

  • Medicines for anxiety or to help you sleep.
  • Phenytoin (for epilepsy).
