Mounjaro: How does it work?
Only take 1 dose a week
Mounjaro injections are easy to use. You’ll only ever need to take it once a week, so you’ll never need to worry about it affecting your routine.
Lose 20% of your starting body weight
If you consistently use Mounjaro weight-loss injections alongside physical activity and a healthy diet, you’ll be able to lose a significant amount of weight in just over a year.
Inject at home or on the go
Mounjaro pen injectors are easy to carry and use. It doesn’t matter if you’re at home, work or travelling, you can inject wherever you are.
To start your weight loss treatment and help our pharmacists understand your needs, you'll need to have a video consultation with a member of our team. Once approved, our team will stay in regular contact to approve your future use of our weight loss medicines.
Support every step of the way
Your weight loss journey doesn’t have to feel lonely. Our pharmacists will be in touch regularly with tips and advice to help keep you motivated. They will also offer you support so you can take your medicine at home with confidence.

Mounjaro weight-loss injections

You can inject your pen into your tummy, arm or thigh. Make sure to change the site regularly to avoid injury or bruising.
Prepare your pen
Take off the cap and press it against your chosen injection site. Unlock the pen by twisting it.
Inject your dose
When you are ready, press and hold the top of the pen. You will hear 2 clicks, 1 at the start of the injection and 1 at the end. Wait 10 seconds to hear both clicks.
Missed a dose? That’s okay. You have 4 days to take your scheduled dose of Mounjaro. If you’re unable to take your Mounjaro dose within 4 days, you should wait until your next dose is due. It’s better to miss a dose than to double up.

- Foods with high sugar content: Sweets, cakes, fizzy drinks, biscuits and the like.
- Fried foods: Bacon, sausages, chips, burgers and fried eggs contain high levels of unhealthy fats, which may increase the risk of nausea while taking Mounjaro weight-loss injections.
- High glycaemic index fruit and vegetables: Mango, sweetcorn, potatoes, pineapple and watermelon can cause your blood sugar levels to spike.
Additionally, you should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Mounjaro as this can make some of the common side effects of the medication such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea worse.
We also prescribe two other types of weight-loss medication at Well Pharmacy. Wegovy is a self-injectable medication that can be taken weekly. We can also prescribe orlistat as part of our weight management services, which comes in the form of a capsule and is taken three times a day.
