Meet just a few of the team who make a difference in Digital through their specialist roles:
Hi, I’m Mital Thakrar and I’ve been a qualified Pharmacist since 2014. I joined the Digital Team in 2020, originally as an Operations Lead rolling out Click & Collect for our Digital Pharmacy and have grown my digital career from there.
We offer a wide variety of products and services online and ensuring that we are offering the best experience for our patients online is of paramount importance to me. I work closely with our Pharmacy Team to ensure that we deliver the highest level of care for patients that choose to use our Online Services, as well as working with our development team to enhance the experience and our external suppliers to understand and navigate in the market that we operate in.
Our Digital Marketing Team is a unique team with specialist skillsets across both paid and organic media. My role is to support the team to deliver our objectives that include the acquisition of new patients, improving the visibility of Well on search engines and by showcasing our products and services digitally through different channels.
The team and I work very closely with our external partners who support us to achieve our objectives. We also collaborate with the in-store Marketing team which is invaluable, aligning on our thoughts, creatives and promotions ensures continuity across our messaging both in-store and online.
Every day is a day learning, and I am delighted by the opportunity to learn from experts in field!
I started my career as a Summer Placement student with The Co-operative Pharmacy, in my four weeks working I was offered a place to come back a year later as a pre-registration Pharmacist which motivated me massively as I completed my final exams and completed my MPharm degree to be a pharmacist.
In August 2013, I started my journey and was privileged to have worked alongside a tutor who gave me opportunities, autonomy, and confidence in my ability. Most of all, remains an inspiration to me to this day. I progressed through a few roles as Pharmacist Manager, Implementation Lead for the PMR & CF Project and then started my journey in Digital 2020 as Operations Lead rolling out Click & Collect for Digital Pharmacy.
I am proud to have had the opportunity to further my career by completing the L5 Operations / Department Manager apprenticeship and expected to complete my L7 Senior Leaders Masters Degree & MBA in May 2024. Both learning opportunities have enabled me to develop my skills that are essential for my role and create the opportunities for me to progress.
I’ve also found the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) sessions delivered by our Learning & Development Team very thought provoking and inspiring, enabling me to reflect on my leadership style and strive to being the best version of me for my teams.
Having worked in Digital for over four years, I’ve been privileged to learn from mentors from across our business.
The support from our Digital Team has been tremendous where I’ve learnt so much from each of the different departments across the team.
Being able to work day in, day out with our development team, marketers, content writers and Pharmacy team, alongside the skills gained to help grow our operation, improve our commercial performance and most of all build relationships with our external partners has supported my growth as a leader.
Hi, I’m Laura and I’m the Digital Category Manager for Well Pharmacy. I’ve been with Well for nearly 2 years and have loved working with such a great team!
My role is to oversee the OTC range for our online shop at Well.co.uk working closely with the buying team as well as the digital marketing team to ensure we are successfully catering to our online customers.
My career started around 12 years ago in the buying & merchandising field within the fashion industry.
I then worked in the confectionery industry for 8 years, starting as a Merchandising Manager but also expanded my role to oversee product development. There was a lot of travelling back and forth to Belgium and a lot of chocolate eaten!
I then had an opportunity to be part of a small start-up where I was responsible for the product range, stock management, online trading, and digital marketing activity of a traditional sweet shop company. This was a great chance to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you can learn outside of your comfort zone across all areas of the business.
A role then came up at Well Pharmacy within the digital department which was a path I wanted to focus on so very happily jumped at the opportunity!
I currently work in the Digital Marketing team on a secondment.
Five months into the role, I am still so excited to have joined this team.
When the secondment opportunity came up, I knew it would be a challenge however, knowing myself and remembering my work experience in the advertising agency in London and I recently acquired a Level 6 Diploma in Digital Marketing from CIM it was a natural next move for me to put things in practice and learn more from hands-on experience.
The Digital Marketing team is focused on The Digital Pharmacy, The Online Shop and The Online Clinic (online services).
My work is focused on communication and planning, making things happen accurately and on time, bringing campaigns to life successfully and always with the intent to support the health and wellbeing of people.
I mainly work in planning the content for email and organic social (Facebook and Instagram) to make sure it is visually engaging, at the right tone of voice and engaging for our existing or potential customers. Always putting the customer first with everything we do, the campaigns are focusing on communicating value for the customer either through sharing information and advice on a health concern/topic, a pharmacy service, or a product promotion with a big saving. It’s never boring! Loads of marketing platforms, tools, digital channels, systems, updates, links, backlinks algorithms all change really fast and you need to keep yourself updated and competitive. Continuously learning new things, never boring, always exciting, new and engaging.
It requires people skills, openness to feedback and opinions (everyone has an opinion on the creative), resilience, calmness because things change constantly and fast, creativity, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Marketing is fascinating, it has a good pace and a passionate essence.
Every day is different in digital, and I look forward to all the things I will continue to get involved with and learn more.
Over the next six months, my focus is to standardise processes, to continue creating content that will resonate with existing/new customers and enhance the customer experience.
