- You are female
- You are under 18 years of age
- Known allergy to finasteride or any listed tablet ingredient
- Currently taking finasteride 5 mg or any other 5α-reductase inhibitor
- Hair loss caused by another medical condition (e.g. seborrhoeic dermatitis)
- You have had a hair transplant
- You are using antifungal, psoriasis or steroid preparations on your scalp
- Severe liver disease
- Rare hereditary disorders of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption
- Obstructive uropathy
