Description
A compact, pocket-sized medical-grade ECG device that connects to your smartphone to capture a single-lead electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) in about 30 seconds.
Simply place your fingers on the two metal electrodes, launch the free Kardia app on your compatible Android or iOS device, and the device records your heart’s electrical rhythm. The service provides instant automated analysis for key conditions such as Atrial Fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), bradycardia (slow heart rate), and tachycardia (fast heart rate).
Recordings can be saved, emailed, or shared with your doctor, enabling convenient home-based monitoring and tracking of your heart rhythm. Data storage of your ECG results will depend on your device's local storage capacity.
It is FDA-cleared and CE-marked for these rhythm-detection uses. It is not a substitute for full 12-lead clinical ECGs. It does not detect heart attacks and may not be recommended if you have certain implanted devices (e.g., pacemakers, ICDs).
Directions for Use
- Download the free Kardia app to your iOS or Android smartphone, then create or log in to your account.
- Place your smartphone on a flat surface.
- Place the KardiaMobile device next to your phone and rest your right hand’s index and middle fingers on the right electrode, and your left hand’s index and middle fingers on the left electrode. Make sure both contacts are stable.
- Remain still and relaxed for the full 30-second recording; the app will count down and show signal strength and heart rate.
- After recording is complete, the app will automatically analyze your rhythm and display the result (e.g., Normal, Atrial Fibrillation, Bradycardia, or Tachycardia).
- You can save, email, or share the ECG result with your doctor directly from the app.
We recommend that any results are discussed with a healthcare professional, such as your GP or cardiologist.
Your results
The detail of your results will depend on the type of KardiaCare subscription you have.
- Without a KardiaCare Subscription: The device will provide automated analysis for Atrial Fibrillation, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, and Normal Sinus Rhythm.
- With a KardiaCare Subscription: The details of your results will expand to include Sinus Rhythm with PVCs, Sinus Rhythm with SVE, and Sinus Rhythm with Wide QRS.

Supporting evidence and references
KardiaMobile has been tested and clinically reviewed for accuracy and reliability. Regarding specificity and sensitivity data, Hermans et al. 2021, Lowres et al. 2016, Selder et al. 2019, William et al. 2018 reported on the diagnostic accuracy using the KardiaMobile algorithm. Findings showed that sensitivity in results ranged between 92% and 99% per recorded ECG, with specificity between 92% and 98%. Details of clinical studies of KariaMobile can be found on the NICE website.
NICE currently recommend the use of KardiaMobile for early detection of Atrial Fibrilation.
