Why should you get your flu jab at a pharmacy?

You can get the flu vaccine at your GP surgery, but did you know you can also get one from your pharmacy?

Once the flu season begins in October, there’s a rush to get the flu jab as soon as possible. It’s crucial, especially if you’re elderly, very young, pregnant or have a long term health condition, to get your jab as soon as possible. It takes around two weeks for the vaccine to be fully effective, so getting it early means you’re protected by the time viruses begin circulating. With so many people wanting to get the flu jab early, you may find a long wait list at your GP surgery.

However, the same service is available at your local Well Pharmacy with much less hassle.

No appointment necessary

If you’re pressed for time and don’t know in advance when you’ll be free to get your flu jab, a pharmacy may be more convenient for you. You can walk into any Well store between September and March and request a flu jab with no notice. The process is quick, simple and takes place in one of our private consultation rooms.

If you usually get a free flu jab, for example if you’re a carer, or you have an eligible long term health condition, you can get this at your local Well Pharmacy. As well as the free flu jab, we offer the nasal spray for children aged 2-17 years old. If you’re not eligible for a free flu jab but would like to be protected from the virus, we can help you there too. We offer private flu jabs for £11.50 and nasal sprays for £23.

Getting your flu jab at a pharmacy means you can also collect your prescription at the same time, or use any of our in store services. Many of our stores are open over the weekend, making it easier for you to get your flu jab.
