Sun Awareness Week (May 1-7)
Protect yourself this Sun Awareness Week
1st-7th of May is Sun Awareness Week, focused around making sure you know how to stay safe and healthy in the sun. This year’s theme is to raise awareness of non-melanoma skin cancer. You can learn about the symptoms of non-melanoma skin cancer here.
One in three people experience sunburn in the UK every year. Here’s some ways you can prevent burning:
- Avoid the direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm.
- Use suncream with an SPF of at least 30. If you’re allergic to suncream, explore our advice here.
- Wear clothing that protects your skin, such as hats, long sleeves and trousers or long skirts.

We want you to stay safe and informed. Though products are rarely recalled, we want you to know when they are.
