You can order online or through our app and then collect from your local Well pharmacy.
This means you can get your medicines quicker. We’ll still contact your GP for you, and we’ll send you a notification when it’s ready to collect.
Our online pharmacy mobile and web app is completely free to use and download. Prescription deliveries are also free. If you’re exempt from paying for your NHS prescriptions, you won’t be charged.
We will only charge you the standard NHS prescription cost for any items you aren’t exempt from paying for. The service is available to people registered with a GP in England.
For more information about who can get free prescriptions and the certificates you need to prove you don't pay, visit the NHS website. Check if you're entitled to help with your prescription costs with this quick online form from the NHS.
If you don't meet the eligibility requirements, this usually means you will pay the standard NHS prescription charge, although some items are always free.
We accept all forms of prescription exemption. Depending on your circumstances, we might ask you to upload a photo of your exemption evidence when we get your prescription from your GP. If your exemption evidence shows an expiry date, we’ll store this until it expires, so you can check out faster in future.
If you’re over 60, you won’t need to provide any exemption evidence. Find out more about exemptions on the NHS website.
If you have any trouble providing your exemption evidence, we have instructions to help you as you go through the process. You can also use our chat service in the mobile and web app to get help from our customer support team.
No, once you’ve ordered through our mobile or web app, we’ll get in touch with your GP to request your prescription for you. Once your GP has approved the request, we’ll get in touch to let you know if you need to provide exemption evidence or pay for your prescription. Our online pharmacy team will then prepare and post your order to you.
Sometimes, you might need a one-off prescription like pain killers or antibiotics to treat an illness or injury. Your GP can issue you with a prescription that can be picked up at your local pharmacy.
If you think you’re going to run out of medication and need your prescription urgently, you’ll usually need to contact your GP to process a prescription for you. You can also contact NHS 111 by phone or online.
Your GP may give you a paper prescription to take straight to a nearby pharmacy or they might send an electronic prescription to us. If they send the urgent prescription request to us, we’ll transfer it to a pharmacy close to you so you can collect it rather than waiting for delivery.
We'll still be your nominated pharmacy for future orders, even if you collect an urgent prescription from another pharmacy.
Yes! We will send you an email reminder to order your next prescription every few weeks. Depending on your medication, we may be able to send more specific reminders before your current prescription is due to run out.
Your orders will be discreetly packaged and sent via Royal Mail. Delivery usually takes between 2 and 4 days from when we let you know your order has been dispatched, but may take longer during busy periods. If your medicine needs to be temperature controlled, we’ll use Woolcool to make sure it’s the right temperature when it reaches you. We do everything we can to make sure parcels are small enough to fit through your letterbox where possible.
Our standard packaging is recyclable, just check your local recycling guidelines.
The whole process from order through to delivery usually takes 7 working days. Once you've ordered your prescription online, your GP will need to approve it. GPs usually aim to do this within 2 working days, but the time this takes may vary. Once they've approved your prescription and we've processed it, you'll usually receive your order within 2-4 days via Royal Mail.
Delivery may take longer during busy periods so be sure to order your prescription in plenty of time. We recommend placing your order 2 weeks before you need it.
We can deliver to most postcodes in the UK, as long as you’re registered with a GP in England.
Our Click and Collect service is also available in Well pharmacies in England. You can choose to pick up your prescription from a pharmacy that's convenient for you.
Most orders will fit into our letterbox-friendly parcels, so you won't need to be at home for the delivery. For certain deliveries, such as controlled drugs, you will need to be at home to sign for the parcel. We’ll arrange a suitable day with you in advance.
If you're not at home to sign for a controlled drug or if the parcel is too large to fit through your letterbox, Royal Mail will leave a card to let you know they’ve attempted delivery. You can either arrange another delivery time or collect the parcel from your local sorting office. The card will have more information to help you.
