Can someone else pick up my prescription?

Prescription collection options at Well

Sometimes it’s more convenient for someone else to pick up your prescription for you. This could be a friend, family member, neighbour or carer. We’re happy to accommodate this at Well. Here’s how it works:

Collecting an electronic prescription on behalf of someone else

Many prescriptions in England are sent electronically from the doctor to a pharmacy chosen by the patient.

If you’re collecting an electronic prescription for someone else, you’ll need to make sure that person has told the pharmacy.

Please bring with you:

  1. The name and address of the person you’re collecting the prescription for.
  2. Proof of your identity (like a passport, driving license, or bank card).

Collecting a paper prescription on behalf of someone else

If you’ve been asked to pick up a prescription for someone else and they have a paper prescription form, you can collect it from any Well Pharmacy.

You’ll need to make sure that:

  1. The person you’re collecting the prescription for has completed part 1 of the FP10 form.
  2. You’ve completed parts 2 and 3 of the FP10 form yourself.
  3. The person you’re collecting the prescription for has given you evidence of their exemption for payment, if applicable.

Please bring with you:

  1. The completed FP10 form.
  2. The name and address of the person you’re collecting the prescription for.
  3. Proof of your identity (like a passport, driving license, or bank card).

These steps only apply to collecting prescriptions in England.

Using a 24/7 automated collection point to pick up a prescription for someone else

Some of our pharmacies offer 24/7 automated collection points where prescriptions can be picked up on any day, at any time.

To pick up a prescription for someone else using a 24/7 automated collection point, you’ll need to make sure that they tell us they want to use the service. When the prescription is ready, we’ll send them a unique number via text message. They’ll need to give you that number.

You’ll need to:

  1. Go to the automated collection point outside the pharmacy and enter the unique number.
  2. Pay with a debit card or credit card (the collection point does not accept cash), and the prescription will be dispensed to you.
