Is Mounjaro useful for weight loss?

Using Mounjaro can be a great approach to weight management. If you stay physically active and eat a healthy diet, it could help you lose up to 20% of your starting body weight.1

However, losing weight with the medicine is a gradual process. You won’t see changes overnight. But you will start to notice a change in your relationship with food. You might have fewer cravings, for example. You might also feel fuller for longer.

As you move onto a stronger dose of Mounjaro, you’ll start to see physical changes too. But it does take commitment and motivation for you to be successful with it.

What happens if I stop taking Mounjaro?

There are many reasons why you might stop taking Mounjaro. You might have reached your weight loss goals or decided that it isn’t for you. Whatever the reason, it’s okay to leave the medicine behind.

You might slowly come off the medicine – taking lower doses until you reach the point where you no longer need it. This will help you manage any cravings or feelings of hunger between meals that can happen if you stop abruptly.

Speaking to your pharmacist can help with managing the end of your treatment. They can provide personalised advice and support you with any medical concerns you might have.

But you should continue exercising and eating a balanced diet to maintain your weight loss.

Can I take Mounjaro again in the future?

Your life may change between the time you stop taking Mounjaro and the point where you’re ready to start it again. You might find that you are no longer eligible for it based on your BMI and medical history.

But talking to your pharmacist can help you figure out if it’s still suitable for you. You’ll need to complete a consultation before you start to make sure that it’s safe for you.

Regardless of whether it is or not, you can still get help with weight management. Your pharmacist can outline the different ways you can approach your weight loss journey to get the results you want. There’s always support available.
