Description

The menopause is a natural part of aging that occurs between 45 and 55, when a woman's period comes to an end. Common symptoms include irregular periods, hot flashes, trouble sleeping, weight gain and low mood. During the menopause there is a sustained  rise in Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) over many menstrual cycles.

Testing for FSH cannot diagnose the menopause, but when done correctly it can give you insight into your body and inform conversation with your doctor.

2San advises taking this test during the first week of your cycle (day 1 being the first day of bleeding) and repeating the test over  multiple cycles to confirm the result.

All orders are sold at the professional discretion of our Well pharmacists, they may contact you if they require any further information before your order is dispatched.

How to Use

1. Determine the day of your cycle to begin testing, using the guide in the package insert.

2. Remove the test from the sealed pouch and use it immediately within the hour.

4. Cover the cap on the test, then lay onto a clean/stable desk with results window facing up, and then start the timer immediately.

FAQs

What is the FSH Rapid Test Midstream used for?

The FSH Rapid Test Midstream is a rapid test used for the qualitative detection of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in urine. It aids in the detection of menopause by measuring FSH levels.

How does the test work?

As your body ages and produces less estrogen, FSH levels increase to stimulate the ovaries. This test measures FSH levels in urine to determine if your body is producing excess FSH due to low estrogen levels, indicating the perimenopause stage.

When should I start testing?

If you are still having monthly periods, start testing during the first week of your cycle (days 2-7). If you are no longer having regular periods, you can take the test at any time during the month.

How do I use the test?

Remove the test from the sealed pouch and hold the absorbent tip in your urine stream for 10-15 seconds or immerse the tip in a clean cup of urine. Then, place the test on a stable surface with the test and control window facing up. Wait 3 minutes and read the result.

How will I know if the test worked correctly?

A colored line in the Control line region (C) confirms that you followed the test procedure correctly. If no line appears in the Control line region (C), review the instructions and repeat the test with a new midstream test.

Can I stop using contraception if I receive a positive result?

No, this test cannot determine fertility. It is important to consult with your doctor to confirm your menopause status before discontinuing contraception.

Is the test accurate?

The FSH Rapid Test Midstream demonstrated 100% overall accuracy compared to another commercially available urine FSH test in a clinical evaluation. However, it is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for a definitive diagnosis.

How sensitive is the test?

The test can detect FSH in urine at concentrations of 25 mIU/mL or higher, with no cross-reactivity to LH, hCG, or TSH at higher concentrations.

Can alcohol or common medications affect the test?

No, alcohol and common medications do not affect the test. However, if you are taking hormonal medication or experiencing hormonal imbalances due to recent contraceptive use, breastfeeding, pregnancy, or other factors, it is advisable to consult with your physician as these factors can impact the test results.

What should I do if the control line fails to appear?

If the control line fails to appear, it may be due to insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new test. If the problem persists, discontinue using the test kit and contact your local distributor.

Please note that for specific medical advice and interpretation of the results, it is important to consult a healthcare professional.
