Imigran is a branded product containing Sumatriptan.
Sumatriptan is a medicine taken to treat migraines and cluster headaches, it does not prevent these conditions.
Sumatriptan belongs to a class of medicines called triptans. Triptans work by simulating receptors of seretonin in the brain to ease the symptoms of migraines and cluster headaches.
How to Use
Tablets are taken as soon as a migraine or cluster headache starts.
Don't take the tablet at the warning stage, before your migraine starts. Sometimes known as the aura phase. Tablets can take between 30 - 60 minutes to take effect.
Warnings
Do not take more than your prescribed amount in any 24-hour period. The maximum amount is 300mg of tablets, 12mg as injections or 40mg as a nasal spray. Like all medicines, sumatriptan can cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only minor ones. Common side effects can be nausea, vomiting, feeling dizzy, feeling hot or cold and feeling flushed
