Description
Rizatriptan is used to treat the headache phase of migraine attacks.
Rizatriptan belongs to a group of medicines called selective seretonin receptor agonists. Rizatriptan works by narrowing blood vessels to the brain and therefore stopping the pain signals that are sent, blocking the release of the natural substances which cause the pain.
How to Use
Rizatriptan is taken as an oral tablet and is taken at the first sign of a migraine.
It should not be taken to prevent a migraine attack.
Warnings
Like all medicines, Rizatriptan can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may happen with this medicine. In adult studies, the most common side effects reported were dizziness, sleepiness and tiredness. Refer to the patient information leaflet for a full list of side effects and warnings
